I entered the a drug rehab program after an intervention. Three days before I told my wife I was going out for a pack of cigarettes, which began a 72-hour drug fueled nightmare. I had all the intention of going for cigarettes, then coming home. BUT, I am a drug addict. A friend called as I was buying smokes, and invited me for a beer. I went to this local tavern to have one beer. One beer turned into nine shots of Whiskey. Then, I called my coke dealer and vowed to only do one line. You know the story from there. I wound up locked up in a crack house in downtown Los Angeles for three days. I’d like to tell you that was the first time I did that, but that would be a lie. When I finally got home, my wife had had enough. She had my entire family and a professional interventionist waiting for me. I cried and cried and copped to my massive drug abuse problem. My drug addiction had brought me to that point, and I needed help. I love my wife dearly and even though she did a painful thing, I knew it was the right thing. I checked into a high-end residential drug rehab facility the next day, and the rest, as they say, is history. I’ve been clean and sober ever since.

My daughter is the love of my life. I’m not sure there’s anyone I could ever be prouder of. She makes me smile by just walking into a room. Until a few months ago, I hadn’t seen her in a few years, which made me so sad. Then, one day, I got the phone call which would make some mothers angry. She called to tell me she had just left a one-year.
We sat on the phone for five hours and she explained to me what had happened, and how she was doing now. She told me she had made a decision a few years back to go off and be her own person, that she needed to go out into the world and experience new things. But, that after a little while, it got bad and that her drug abuse had gotten the better of her. She had tried different ways to get sober, but that finally she had entered this and went, as she always had, feet first into it. She is doing great now, and has helped some other friends get into the same drug rehab facilityOnce again, she is the light of my life, as she has always been.

What is drug addiction treatment? There are many addictive drugs, and treatments for specific drugs can differ. Treatment also varies depending on the characteristics of the patient.Problems associated with an individual’s drug addiction can vary significantly. People who are addicted to drugs come from all walks of life. Many suffer from mental health, occupational, health, or social problems that make their addictive disorders much more difficult to treat. Even if there are few associated problems, the severity of addiction itself ranges widely among people. Drug Addiction Treatment Centers provide a
variety of scientifically based approaches to drug addiction treatment. Treatment can include behavioral therapy (such as counseling, cognitive therapy, or psychotherapy), medications, or their combination. Behavioral therapies offer people strategies for coping with their drug cravings, teach them ways to avoid drugs and prevent relapse, and help them deal with relapse if it occurs. Case management and referral to other medical, psychological, and social services are crucial components of treatment for many patients. The best Drug Addiction Treatment Centers provide a combination of therapies and other services to meet the needs of the individual patient, which are shaped by such issues as age, race, culture, sexual orientation, gender, pregnancy, parenting, housing, and employment, as well as physical and sexual abuse.
